Product Owner (Commercial Data Products)
Mærsk
Are you interested in turning complex business needs into data products that make a real difference?
As a Product Owner within our Commercial Data Products and Reporting team, you will own and develop data products that help our Commercial and Commercial Finance teams make better, faster and more consistent decisions.
You will manage a portfolio of data products, including datasets and data cubes used for commercial analysis and reporting. Sitting between business and technology, you will translate stakeholder needs into clear requirements, shape solutions with our technology teams, and ensure we focus our efforts on the work that creates the greatest value.
Our team brings together Product Owners based in Copenhagen and reporting colleagues in Pune, and you will collaborate with colleagues across business, data and technology.
Please note that this role is based in Copenhagen and requires onsite presence in the office five days per week.
What you’ll be doing Own the vision, roadmap and backlog for your assigned commercial data products. Work closely with Commercial, Commercial Finance and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into clear requirements and user stories. Act as a trusted sparring partner and bridge between business and technology, translating business needs into technically informed requirements while constructively challenging assumptions and proposed solutions. Prioritise the backlog based on business value, technical feasibility and delivery capacity. Partner with technology teams to shape scalable data solutions and support delivery through Agile ways of working. Apply your understanding of data models, data sourcing and transformation processes to ask the right questions and constructively challenge proposed solutions. Support the development and evolution of datasets, data cubes, KPIs and reporting foundations. Identify and shape opportunities to embed AI and automation into our data products, while also using AI to improve how we explore, design and deliver solutions. Collaborate closely with our reporting team and other Product Owners to ensure our data products work effectively across the wider organisation. Promote consistent KPI definitions, strong data quality and trusted reporting in line with our One Set of Numbers principle. Drive adoption, monitor product performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
What we’re looking for You combine strong product thinking with enough technical understanding to work confidently across business, data and technology teams. You do not need to be a hands-on data engineer, but you should understand how data is sourced, transformed, structured and delivered well enough to engage with and challenge technical colleagues when needed.
Your background could be in product ownership, data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, finance, commercial performance or another related field. We welcome different career paths and are interested in the capabilities and experience you bring.
We’re looking for someone with: Approximately 5+ years’ experience working with data products, BI, analytics, data engineering, reporting or product ownership. Experience translating business needs into user stories, requirements and prioritised backlogs. A good conceptual understanding of data models, datasets and data-transformation processes such as ETL. AI-enabled product development: Experience or a strong interest in delivering AI-enabled products and using AI tools throughout the product lifecycle, from exploring requirements and shaping solutions to improving delivery and ways of working. You bring curiosity about emerging AI capabilities and can identify where they can create meaningful business value. Experience working with technical teams using Agile principles and tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps or similar. Strong stakeholder skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and accessible way. Good business acumen and curiosity about how data can improve commercial decisions. A proactive mindset and the confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Experience within commercial, sales, finance, logistics or shipping would be beneficial, but is not essential.
Ready to make an impact? If you enjoy bringing business and technology together and want to shape data products that support decision-making across a global organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply to join the team and help us turn data into meaningful business value.
