Process Engineer

Novo Nordisk

Department: API Support Team, Global Manufacturing & Supply Location: Kalundborg, Denmark

Your impact begins here Every day in Kalundborg, API purification depends on people who spot what can be better and make it happen. As Process Engineer, you will support production, solve process and equipment challenges and turn data into practical improvements. Your initiative matters: you take ownership, challenge how things are done and help the team deliver reliably for people living with serious chronic diseases.

What you’ll bring A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or another relevant field. Extensive experience in process engineering, manufacturing or a similar technical role, with hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes and equipment. Practical GMP experience, for example working with deviations, CAPAs, change controls and validation. Experience troubleshooting process or equipment issues and improving how a process runs. A self-driven, proactive approach, and the confidence to work independently and take ownership. The confidence to speak up and constructively challenge existing approaches. Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and support operational needs as required. Professional English, spoken and written.

Useful, but not essential: Experience with API manufacturing or purification processes, in pharma or in another regulated manufacturing environment. Experience with HVAC systems, cleaning processes, and/or environmental monitoring. Science and Risk-based Validation experience. Data-driven analysis of production data.

What you’ll do This is a hands-on production support role in an established API purification facility. Roughly 80% of your time will go to day-to-day process support, and about 20% to engineering and development work that you grow into over time. Support daily production by solving process and equipment problems quickly, and document findings and corrective actions. Analyse production data to spot trends and improve efficiency, resource use and quality. Own and drive deviations, CAPAs, change controls and validation activities, keeping processes compliant with internal and external requirements. Work close to manufacturing equipment, advising on set-up, adjustments and improvements to the production process. Test, review and refine process steps, and share what you learn to help colleagues reach their goals. Represent process engineering in cross-functional discussions and help develop colleagues through guidance and knowledge sharing.

Who you’ll work with In Global Manufacturing & Supply, colleagues work across the value chain to scale molecules, processes, devices and products for the people who need them. You will join a diverse team comprising engineers, scientists, chemists, technicians, equipment supporters, and a smaller logistics group supporting batches. Your key internal partners are colleagues in Quality Control and Manufacturing Science and Technology. It is an international team that works in English every day, with colleagues close by who share their experience and help you get up to speed.

What you can expect here You will work in a team where experienced colleagues are close by, your voice is heard and you are trusted to take ownership. You will build new skills through the day-to-day work, grow alongside colleagues in a mix of process support and engineering, and have the chance to take on more engineering responsibility over time. Clear performance expectations help you do your best work and be recognised for it.
