Matas Group - Data Engineer

Matas Group is looking for a Data Engineer to join our BI & Analytics team. We are on an exciting transformation journey, with Databricks at the centre of our future data platform. You will play an important role in designing and building our new Databricks-based data platform, from architecture and data modelling to pipelines and implementation. A key part of the journey will be understanding our existing Azure data landscape, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse and SQL-based data warehouses. and helping us evolve and migrate them towards a modern, scalable data platform. In this role, you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the business and take significant responsibility for translating business requirements into robust technical solutions. You will also contribute technical guidance and share knowledge around data architecture, engineering practices and development processes. We are working towards becoming an even more data-driven organisation and are making significant investments in AI and modern data capabilities. You will work with complex data models and large volumes of data from across Matas Group, including our membership club, stores and e-commerce platforms. Data Engineer with Databricks experience We are looking for someone with 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role. We also expect you to have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or a related field. In addition, we are looking for someone with: Hands-on experience with Databricks and building data pipelines and solutions on the platform Strong knowledge of Python and SQL Experience developing and maintaining robust, scalable data platforms and ETL/ELT pipelines Experience working with Azure SQL-based data warehouses and an interest in modernising and migrating legacy data solutions Experience designing, building and optimising data models, data warehouses and data marts to support business decision-making Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams Experience with Power BI and building semantic models is considered an advantage.
